what I’m wearing: bardot frill top, embroidered woven shorts, mini yellow crossbody, round ombre sunglasses
A rugged coastline against a turquoise blue backdrop, surrounded by hundreds of years of history and a number of structures with an air of mystery behind them, Tulum Ruins is one of those places that I have dreamed of visiting for several years now, and finally had the chance to last month. Dreaming of a particular place for years and years doesn’t quite prepare you for the breathtaking reality of it. Despite the fact that Tulum Ruins belong to that group of highly photographed places, or maybe simply because of its grand presence draped head-to-toe in history, it is quite difficult to imagine what the ruins look like until you are actually there amongst them.
Like most style bloggers, I usually plan my outfit a little ahead and try to match the mood of the scenery where I will be. For my visit to the ruins, I knew I wanted something floaty and breezy, like this beautiful powder blue bardot top that I had my eye on for a while. The white woven shorts with subtle fringing detail were a complete last-minute purchase, obtained the afternoon before leaving for Mexico, but I felt that they were perfect to pair with the top. My mini yellow crossbody bag was there to add a faithful splash of colour, as in the rest of my holiday looks. Finally, no other accessory could give that subtle retro feel more than a pair of round ombre sunglasses. An outfit worthy for a morning of exploring beautiful scenery – in my humble opinion anyway!
Have you had a similar experience with somewhere that you had been longing to visit? What do you think of this outfit?
